About Us

Rooted in Faith. Growing in Grace. Looking Forward.

Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church is a community of people seeking to know Jesus Christ, grow together in faith, and share His love with our neighbors.

We are a smaller church with a big sense of family. Here, people know your name. We pray for one another, celebrate together, walk with each other through difficult seasons, and believe that church is about more than attending a service—it is about following Jesus together.

Whether you have followed Christ for decades, are returning to church after time away, or are simply beginning to explore faith, you are welcome at Falling Water.

Our Story

Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church has been part of this community for more than 140 years.

Our congregation was organized on September 14, 1884. The original church stood about a mile north of our present location. In 1926, the congregation moved to our current home on Old Dayton Pike on land given by Walter P. and Mrs. Selcer. Generations of people have worshiped, prayed, served, married, raised families, grieved, celebrated, and encountered God here.

We are deeply grateful for that heritage. But we believe the story of Falling Water is still being written.

Our community has changed dramatically over the years. What was once a largely rural area is now surrounded by growing neighborhoods and communities throughout Hixson, Soddy-Daisy, Red Bank, and the surrounding Chattanooga area.

We believe God has placed Falling Water here for a reason—and that our calling is not simply to preserve what previous generations built, but to faithfully carry the gospel they entrusted to us into the next generation.

Who We Are

At Falling Water, you will find worship rooted in Scripture, a congregation that values prayer and relationships, and people who genuinely care for one another. We don't pretend to have everything figured out. We are growing, learning, and discerning together what faithful ministry looks like in this season of our church's life.

We want to be a church where:

  • Jesus Christ is at the center of everything we do.
  • Scripture shapes what we believe and how we live.
  • Prayer is part of the everyday life of the church.
  • People are known, loved, and cared for.
  • Children and young people know they belong.
  • Every generation has a place to serve.
  • Visitors become friends and friends become family.
  • We look beyond our walls for ways to love and serve our neighbors.

Where We're Going

We are grateful for more than a century of faithful ministry, but we believe God has more ahead for Falling Water.

We are in a season of renewal—strengthening our congregation, investing in the next generation, building deeper relationships with our community, and asking an important question:

What is God calling Falling Water to be in this community today?

We don't expect to answer that question overnight. We are listening, praying, learning, and moving forward together.

Our hope is simple: that Falling Water will continue to be a place where people encounter Jesus, grow into mature disciples, find genuine Christian community, and are equipped to love and serve others.

There is room in that story for you.

Come worship with us. We'd love to meet you.
